Promotion Information.
Our 8th grade Promotion Exercises are planned to be celebrated outside on Thursday, June 20th, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. on the Sayreville War Memorial High School athletic field.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Sayreville War Memorial High School Gymnasium.
Seating is extremely limited in the gymnasium so tickets will be required for entry. Two tickets will be given to your child during promotion practice on Thursday, June 20th, 2024.
As the weather in June is quite unpredictable, please check the district website: sayrevillek12.net starting at 3:30 p.m. for information regarding any change in the Promotion Exercise location.
In order for this occasion to be both dignified and memorable, we ask your cooperation in following the guidelines listed below:
PARENTS
- All Grade 8 students attending the ceremony will be given two tickets for an inside ceremony only, the outside ceremony will not have any tickets and seating is on a first come, first served basis.
- Please remain in your seats throughout the ceremony and do not stand around or behind the stage area.
- All guests should arrive at either the athletic field (outside ceremony) or gymnasium (inside ceremony) no later than 5:00 p.m. Please consider the traffic volume for that evening.
- There will be handicapped seating for spectators as well.
- Please review the bag policy for large events such as Grade 8 promotion.
There will be additional parking available at the middle school.
Flowers and gifts should be given out after the ceremony.

If you have any questions about what your child may wear, please contact me.
CEREMONY
- Once again, if weather permits, the ceremony will be held on the athletic field of the Sayreville War Memorial High School. If it should rain, it will be moved to the Sayreville War Memorial High School gymnasium. Please remember to bring your tickets.
- Students should report to their assigned area no later than 5:00 p.m.
- Please consider the increased traffic in town because of this event. Parking is permitted only in lined areas.
- Students are NOT permitted to chew gum or wear sunglasses.
- Please be respectful to the surroundings as well as the ceremony for all children. Please refrain from loud talking, using air horns, and shouting during the ceremony so that every student’s name may be heard clearly.
- Students who are unruly or uncooperative will be removed from the ceremony. The administration reserves the right to remove any student from the rehearsal or ceremony who is unruly or uncooperative.
- After the ceremony is concluded, the audience is asked to remain in place until the students have recessed from the field.
Please review these guidelines with your son or daughter. We look forward to seeing you on what will be a memorable evening for all of us.
Sincerely,
Scott Nurnberger - Principal
Sayreville Middle School
